.gz images that are run when there is a "combined" propagate+deploy invocation
to workspace control are not properly handled.  This never happens in the cloud
configuration because that optimized workspace control call is not ever used. 
Patrick Armstrong from uvic.ca has discovered this and provided a patch
(hurray).
